An absolutely beautiful summer read! This is my first book by Aisling Magic. I saw her book in Goodreads, and mailed her for an e-book. She was sweet enough to reply and sent me the book.

Synopsis:After my scumbag of a boyfriend cheats on me, my plan is simple.

1. Run away to college.

2. Find a remedy for this heartache because it’s not found in ice-cream, contrary to popular belief.

The plan is perfect.

Until a conversation with my crazy roommate, that starts with staying fit and ends with a search for healthy penises, results in me accidentally enrolling us in a kizomba dance class because of the aforementioned quest.

Our dance instructor, Remi, turns out to be a condescending jerk, who enjoys making me squirm under his smoking, amber gaze. When he starts calling me “darling” in that low, husky voice, my dreams turn a little dirty.

This should be easy, right?

The synopsis sounds interesting right? Kaci accidentally signs herself in a Kizomba class. Her instructor Remi is a complete jerk but was funny too! The characters made me laugh a lot especially Candee. I’m not gonna give any more spoilers.

I wanted to see some more pages at the end otherwise it was a wholesome read.

This is my second LGBTQ romance book and yeah it was nice.

The storyline is about two young women. Hayley moves to Toronto to get out of her small town.She finds a job as a cook in a diner. The other character Lauren happens to be her boss. They eventually grow closer.

Synopsis: Frustrated with small town life, Hayley moves to the city only to get fired and lose her apartment all in the same day. Desperate, she takes a job as a short order cook in a quaint diner. Now she just has to find a place to live and learn how to cook.

Lauren manages Greta’s Diner the same way she manages everything in her life, with calm and order. All that changes the moment Hayley walks through the door. She’s loud, opinionated, wild, and completely alluring. When Lauren finds out that Hayley’s been sleeping in the diner, she makes a decision that will change both their lives forever.

•I loved the growth of the characters.

•I loved the part of the book where the baking dreams were described.

•The problems faced by Hayley and Lauren seemed realistic.

I deducted a star because umm Hayley was sometimes over dramatic and the romance was a bit slow at the beginning.

One Day At A Time is a romantic novel by Danielle Steel. It was her 77th book ! I picked this book randomly. Here’s the blurb:

I loved Coco and her simple life.Her grief and her usual family drama umm her super successful sister and mother despised her career and lifestyle kinda made the storyline interesting for me. Because that’s how introverted people feel and there’s always someone in famous fams who doesn’t like the sparkling glitter and the fame. Coco’s choice of career was something I found really interesting. She runs dogs and I’ve a thing for dogs/cats. Her sister Jane was straight forward and had a razor sharp tongue. But I guess that’s how elder siblings are! Her partner Liz was sweet and understanding. The lead male character Leslie Baxter was a British gentleman.

The thing that I didn’t like was Coco’s mother Florence hiding her actual age from her partner. Her daughters even found it wrong. This fact was unclear and it remained the same way at the end too.

Some portions of the novel felt a bit exaggerated, I think it would’ve been better as a 200 pages novel. I enjoyed Danielle Steel’s writing style. It was beautiful .

Book Review: Still Me by Jojo Moyes.

Still Me ~Jojo Moyes,Umm I’ve mixed feelings about this book too,some parts were really nice again some things were a bit exaggerated.Lou Clark finally starts living the life that Will always wished for her. The storyline starts with Lou arriving at NYC. Her recent workplace at Gopnik’s (who’s one of the wealthy business tycoon of NY)is full of melodramatic and daily soap-ish problems. He married a young woman Agnes who used to be his masseuse, Lou worked as Agnes’s partner.Meanwhile she meets a new guy Josh, who’s Will’s lookalike and he reminds her of Will.

I’m not gonna talk about the plot anymore, I want to mention the things I loved about this book:

•Lou standing up for herself: I loved that she went to NY,tried as hard as possible to cheer up Agnes, tried hard to maintain her long distance relationship with Sam.

•The description of fifth avenue and its lifestyle,the East Village vintage store Louisa visited sounded very dreamy.

•Mrs. De Witt seemed very strict at the beginning but she was kind towards Lou, the description of her vintage clothing was really fascinating.

• The problems she faced with Sam while staying at NY sounded realistic, I mean in order to make the long distance relationship real, the author showed the exact kind of problems /trust issues which are seen in real life.

Things that I didn’t like:

• Was it necessary for Josh to be Will’s lookalike ? I mean yeah some of us must have met someone at one point of life who might look like someone we knew, but I just didn’t like the way author presented Josh, the description at the beginning showed him as a nice, understanding and mature guy but at the end , when he walks away for the bumble bee tights seemed unrealistic, I mean he understood Lou’s fashion sense then why would he leave her later?

• I really wanted to know what Gopnik did after he found out about Agnes, there was this little conversation with Louisa where he wanted to give her job as repentance but the whole thing was unexplained.

Book Review: After You by Jojo Moyes

After You~Jojo Moyes,I’ve mixed feelings about this book. I’ve seen that a lot of people hated this book because Lou moved on with some other guy.

The storyline begins after eighteen months of Will’s death, Lou moved out of her house, lived in a flat and worked as a bartender. One night she faces an accident which her family misunderstood as suicide and she finally connects back with her fam after eighteen long months. As the plot progresses with several dramatic twists Lou meets a paramedic guy Sam and both of them were blinded by the sparks. Meanwhile, Lou also struggles with the biggest plot twist Lily, Will’s daughter who’s absolutely a wild teenager.

I know that when we read the first book we fell for Will and it was hard to imagine Lou with someone else. But think it positively, isn’t this what Will wanted for Louisa? To see her happy and live her life to the fullest? He wanted her to move on and moving on with Sam was perfect, he cared for her , at least he wasn’t like Patrick.

Now the thing I didn’t like is the LILY part. Not because it was hard to digest that Will had a daughter , I just didn’t like the way she kept creating chaos in Lou’s life. I guess that’s because of her effed up childhood but I just couldn’t connect with her.

I do agree that Me Before You would’ve been better as a stand alone book but then us, the crazy fans would’ve suffered in a huge dilemma like what happened to Lou afterwards and so on. I just wanted to say that don’t hate the book because Lou moved on with another guy, just remember that she promised Will to enjoy her life.

ARC review: The Italian Girls by Debbie Rix.

Historical fiction is my second favourite genre. I love to read about the world war , the sufferings and struggles kinda make me realise how terrible times people of that particular generation have seen. The Italian Girls by Debbie Rix was indeed a pleasant read.

I loved reading about the Italian environment, Florence and its Duomo tales are so fascinating.

When Germans step in Italy we see the dark memories of the previous century. Livia Moretti and Isabella Bellucci reminded me of Sophie Lefevre from The Girl You Left Behind.

Isabella’s sacrifices everything for saving the love of her life was heart wrenching.

I wanted to see some more pages, the end of the novel seemed a bit rushed up. Otherwise Issa thumbs up 👍

Book Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

Me Before You is one of my favourite book of all time. It was my first book by Jojo Moyes and I loved it. I loved the movie too! It was as perfect as the book and hats off to the casting directors for choosing Emelia Clarke as Lou and Sam Claflin as Will. The songs especially Ed Sheeran’s Photograph,Thinking Out Loud made the movie even more interesting, and Not Today by my favourite band Imagine Dragons made the movie very much special for me.

If there’s any romantic book which made me cry then it’s Me Before You. I was in tenth grade and picked this book randomly for my summer reads and after finishing it…. how do I stop my tears. The emotions,Will having no choice but to take a painful decision, Lou’s silly behaviour and her weird fashion sense were so well described.

I loved Lou’s character development and her super crazy family. I loved Trina and Patrick was also nice despite of his fitness freaky-ness. Will pushing and encouraging Lou to pursue her dreams was the most beautiful form of love I’ve ever read.

Accidentally In Love is much more than just a romcom! It was wholesome and reminded me of Sally Thorne’s books.

•The plot was really inspirational and jaw droppingly beautiful. Katherine’s confident and her ambitious attitude made me realise that it’s never too late in life to chase your dreams. Kate is a self reliant woman which makes her damn sexy!

•To talk about the lead male character of the book Kit, he’s an artist. Men with artistic qualities are interesting! He’s supportive and extremely sweet. He encourages Kate and has her back.

•The banter between Kate and Kit was so cute, the humour and everything made me giggle a lot. The personal growth of the characters and people close to them were perfect.

One of my favourite quote from the book was “Looking at him from behind the safety of my phone,I feel as if it’s him who’s seeing me for the first time”

This book will be published on 11th September,2020. It’s extremely hilarious and heartwarming. So add it to your September reads list!

What comes in your mind when you hear ITALY?

I guess most of you imagine Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck roaming around in that famous Vespa Scooter. Recently I traveled to Italy umm yeah through a book.

Love and Gelato, the name itself makes you imagine about all those cute lovey dovey stuffs. Swipe right to see the blurb.

Lina and her mother Hadley’s relationship was heartwarming and Hadley’s sudden death was really painful for her. Lina goes to Italy to spend some time with her father Howard ( I’m not gonna talk about the plot anymore because I might end up giving spoilers).

The tidbits about the historical monuments,sculptures, arts by Howard were informative and dreamy. The food description and the picturesque city Florence made me fall in love with Italy.Someday I’ll visit Italy, Inshallah.

Let’s briefly talk about the characters:

•Lina is me and I’m Lina. Sorry for the narcissistic comment, what I mean is Lina is the kind of sweet girl with wild hair who can shut down anyone.

•Lorenzo aka Ren is the kind of cute romantic Italian guy you see in romcom movies. Warm skin, forehead curls and soccer fan. Where can I get myself a Ren? I want to buy a Ren but umm sighs because guys like Ren only exist in books.

Some cute quotes from the book:

•”Soccer clothes are exempt.They’re about as Italian as they get.Plus,I am Italian.So,everything naturally looks stylish on me.”

•”I grabbed tight around Ren’s waist,grinning like a idiot.”

Woah! This book was outstanding. I was hooked from the first page. Thanks @netgalley and @avon_books for an advanced copy.

I’ve finished watching Lucifer lately and was rooting for some good modern criminal fiction and I came across the synopsis of The Vow. I couldn’t sleep properly until I finished the book.

Synopsis:

Everything was perfect. And then her fiance disappeared…

Things I absolutely loved about this book:

1. Amy is totally unreliable , her thoughts will drive you crazy

2. Fiona’s simple one dimensional role.

3. The first half of the book is breathtaking, the storyline keeps getting better.

Now the things which made me a bit disappointed:

1. Some plot twists happened during the police investigation which sounded a bit unrealistic.

2. Fiona’s storyline at the end wasn’t up to the mark.

Apart from that this book is a good one. It comes out this October. So hurry up and add this to your fall tbr list.
